Electrolysis

Electrolysis is the only method that offers PERMANENT hair removal.

Electrolysis

Electrolysis

Electrolysis is a method of hair removal which was invented in 1875 and has proven to be very safe and effective when applied by a qualified professional. Primarily treatment is with thermolysis which creates heat to destroy the blood capilliary bundle that feeds the hair, which initially damages and ultimately destroys the hair growth. It is mainly used for smaller areas on the face such as the chin, lip, eyebrows etc or for sporadic growth on areas of the the body such as nipples and navel.

Unwanted hair is a common problem affecting most women to varying degrees throughout their lives. Electrolysis is a proven method of hair removal and many women and indeed many men can benefit from this tried and trusted treatment.

 How does Electrolysis work?

A fine probe about the size of an eyelash is inserted into the hair follicle where a tiny burst of energy is targeted at the root of the hair, This prevents the nutrients feeding the hair and the hair becomes weaker and finer. After repeated treatments the hair is no longer able to grow.and complete hair free results are obtained. Each hair requires repeated treatment because each individual hair has its own growing cycle and blood supply. Electrolysis works by weakening the hair and eventually destroying it.

Advanced Electroylsis

Advanced Electrolysis

Advanced electrolysis uses the same technology used in hair removal but applied in a different way to treat the following:

  • Facial Thread Veins (talengectasia)

  • Spider Veins

  • Skin Tags

  • Blood Spots (Campbell de Morgan)

  • Milia

With the NHS unable to provide a solution to these kind of skin blemishes Advanced Electrolysis is the perfect solution to achieve blemish free skin. Treatment is safe and effective and because of the gentle approach used to remove these blemishes the chances of scaring are minimal.

A thorough consultation is required before undergoing any treatment.

Facial Thread Veins (Talengectasia) and spider veins

Using the same technology as electrolysis for hair removal, treatment of thread veins and spider veins is achieved using a high frequency, low voltage current which creates heat (thermolysis) to cauterise superficial veins on the face.  Depending on the number of veins to be treated multiple sessions may be required. There can be numerous causes for Thread veins which include sun damage, ageing, exposure to harsh weather, pregnancy, hormone fluctuation, physical trauma, hereditary reasons and more. After treatment there may be some superficial crusting and veins may appear darker until the area is fully healed.

Skin Tags

Skin Tags are often found in areas of friction such as underarms, groin, under the breasts or around the neck where necklaces and collars irritate. They can vary in size from a grain of rice to the size of a pea or larger. Advanced electrolysis techniques using a high frequency/low voltage current that creates heat are used to remove the tags.

Blood Spots

Blood Spots are bright red, superficial vascular blemishes caused by small veins lying just beneath the outer layer of the skin. They are also known as Cherry Angiomas or Campbell de Morgans. The bright red colouris the strongest identifying feature of a Blood Spot. Taking the form of dome-shaped blemish, they can vary in size and be anything from 2mm across to the size of a thumbnail. The treatment entails applying a slender needle to the surface of the affected area to introduce a low current. This acts to cauterise the Blood Spot, which is then removed through the application of heat.

Your questions, answered.

How long is treatment and how many will I require?

ACP treatments are safe and effective and offer instantaneous results in many cases. Length of treatment very much depends on the problem and your electrolysis specialist will advise you during consultation.

The area being treated, must not be over heated and your skin reactivity will be taken into account. Spacing techniques and treatment intervals will be carefully considered in a treatment plan by the professional as well as your requirements, needs and wishes.

How are Thread Veins treated?

The tip of the finest smallest probe (about the size of an eyelash) is introduced along the line of the capillary and high frequency energy is discharged. This dries up and destroys the vessel which often disappears as it is being treated. Further treatments may be necessary depending on the severity of the problem.

How are Skin Tags treated?

There are a number of different techniques depending on the location and size of the tag. Results are effective instantaneously and permanent for the tags treated although more tags may appear over time.

Will my blemishes return?

The treated blemishes should not return but others may occur depending on the root cause. Your electrolysis specialist will advise during consultation.
